Smelting gold is an important step in the extraction and purification of this precious metal. In order for raw gold ore to change from its original state to molten, it must be heated to a very high temperature in a furnace. Gold smelting is characterized by several important points:
Ore production: Gold ore is mined and purified to remove impurities before smelting. After that, the finished ore is placed in the furnace to start the smelting process.
High Temperatures: Furnaces or other special equipment are usually used to produce the exceptionally high temperatures required for melting. The gold in the ore melts under the influence of heat and separates from other minerals and impurities.
Separation of Impurities: When impurities such as stone and other metals are separated from gold during smelting, a pool of molten refined gold remains.
Refining: The molten gold is further processed to achieve the required purity. Other chemical treatments or measures may be necessary to remove remaining impurities.
Casting: After purification, liquid gold can be molded and shaped into bars or ingots for ease of handling, transportation and use in various industries.
In general, smelting is necessary to transform raw gold ore into pure fine gold, which is desired for a wide variety of purposes, including investment, jewelry and electronics.
Lab duties include metal assays, gold assays and R&D (RandD). The analysis determines the fineness of gold and silver by observing the metal and its quality during the refining process. Emirates Gold uses both spectrometry and conventional fire test techniques in its assay processes..
Our smelting department makes a significant contribution to the production process, turning scrap metal into pellets for our refinery or melting good metal into bars. This section is vital to our day-to-day operations as melting is an important step in almost all Emirates Gold services.
Precious metals such as scrap gold and silver, scrap jewelry or even higher quality gold doré must be refined using a method that separates the valuable gold from the other andquot;waste elements removing unwanted materials and cleaning the product.
Located at the crossroads of many prosperous East-West trade routes, Nairobi has long held a leading position in the global physical gold market, which has only grown stronger in recent years.
